Southern Cheese Crackers (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Cubed butter
02 - Shredded cheddar cheese (sharp)
03 - Regular baking flour
04 - Salt
05 - Paprika powder
06 - A dash of cayenne for heat
07 - Baking powder
08 - Some water

# Instructions:

01 - Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a tray with parchment to keep the crackers from sticking.
02 - Grab a grater and shred that cheddar—freshly grated cheese melts best for this.
03 - In a big bowl, throw in the flour, salt, cayenne, paprika, and baking powder. Stir it up until it’s all blended.
04 - Toss in the shredded cheese and butter chunks. Mash it all together using your hands or a fork until it starts to look crumbly.
05 - Slowly add a bit of water (about a tablespoon at a time) and mix. Stop when it sticks together but isn’t wet.
06 - Sprinkle some flour on your counter. Roll the dough out to about a quarter of an inch thick—or thinner if you like crispy crackers.
07 - Use a knife or a cookie cutter to cut the dough into little pieces. Don’t let them overlap on the tray.
08 - Pop the tray in your oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they’re crunchy and golden.
09 - Leave the crackers on the tray to cool for a few minutes. Move them to a rack once they’re easy to handle.
10 - These snacks are perfect alone or with a dip. Toss them on a platter and dig in!
