04 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
05 - 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
06 - 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
07 - 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
08 - 2 ounces (57g) cream cheese, softened
09 - 1 cup (200g) white sugar

→ Decoration

10 - 32 unwrapped chocolate hearts
11 - 3/4 cup (150g) pink and red sanding sugar

# Instructions:

01 - Mix salt, flour, and baking powder in a bowl. Put it aside for later.
02 - Blend butter and cream cheese till smooth. Add sugar and mix till fluffy. Stir in egg and both extracts. Finally, fold in the dry mixture till it’s dough.
03 - Wrap dough up and chill for 30-60 minutes. If it’s in the fridge longer, let it warm at room temp for about 30 minutes.
04 - Set oven to 350°F. Line baking trays with parchment. Pour sanding sugar into a bowl.
05 - Roll dough into 1-tablespoon balls, cover in sanding sugar, and set on trays. Gently flatten. Bake for 12-13 minutes.
06 - Push a chocolate heart onto each cookie while warm. Chill cookies briefly so the chocolate sets. Let cool completely.

02 - You can freeze it ahead of time.
03 - Almond extract isn’t necessary, but it’s a nice addition.
