01 -
Heat up your oven to 350°F. Get a 9x5 bread pan ready by lining it with parchment paper, then put it aside.
02 -
Cut the apples into small ¼-inch bits. Toss them with the lemon juice and cinnamon, mix well, and set them aside to soak in the flavors.
03 -
Beat the softened butter with the sugar till it’s super fluffy. Drop in the eggs, vanilla, and salt, blending for a couple more minutes while scraping the sides. Gently add in the flour, baking powder, soda, and buttermilk. Don’t overmix, just let it combine. Toss half the prepped apples and walnuts (if you’re using them) into the batter.
04 -
Pour the batter into the lined pan. Layer the rest of the apple pieces on top. Mix the brown sugar with cinnamon, then sprinkle it all over the apples.
05 -
Pop the bread into the oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when a toothpick poked into the center comes out clean. Let it cool down in the pan for at least 15 minutes.
06 -
Using a small bowl, stir powdered sugar with milk or cream till you get a smooth drizzle. Pour it over the loaf once it’s cool, then slice and dig in.
