Quick Cheesy Meatball Sub (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Meatball Mix Ingredients

01 - 1 large egg
02 - ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
03 - 1-2 minced garlic cloves
04 - 1 pound lean ground beef (95% lean)
05 - ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
06 - ½ teaspoon salt
07 - 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning blend

→ For the Subs

08 - 24 meatballs (frozen or homemade)
09 - 2 cups marinara sauce
10 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
11 - 8 hot dog buns
12 - 1½ cups shredded mozzarella

# Instructions:

01 - Combine the meatball ingredients, roll into 24 balls, and fry in a skillet with a bit of oil. Turn them often to brown evenly.
02 - Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs, cover the skillet, and let them gently simmer for about 15 minutes on medium-low until the center hits 160°F.
03 - Arrange the buns on a baking pan and adjust the oven rack so it's 6 inches from the broiler.
04 - Stuff each bun with 3 meatballs. Spoon sauce on top, sprinkle with mozzarella, and broil just a couple minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles.

# Notes:

01 - It's fine to use pre-made frozen meatballs instead of fresh ones.
02 - Keep an eye on the broiler; cheese can burn fast!
