Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and cover a baking tray with parchment paper.

Take the puff pastry, roll it out to soften, and cut out hearts with a knife or a cookie cutter.

Arrange the heart-shaped pieces on the lined tray and stick them in the fridge for 10 minutes so they hold their form.

Spoon roughly 1 tablespoon of Nutella onto the middle of half the hearts, leaving space clean on the edges.

Place a plain heart-shaped piece over each filled one. Seal the edges by pressing down. You can crimp them with a fork if you like.

Whisk the egg with a little water, then brush this mixture lightly on top of the assembled pastries.

Pop the tray into the oven for 15-18 minutes, until they puff up and turn golden brown. Let them cool for a bit before eating.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream or berries if you feel like it.
