02 - 2 teaspoons fresh lemon zest
03 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
04 - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
05 - 1/3 cup granulated sugar
06 - 3/4 cup milk, warmed to 110-115°F
07 - 3 3/4 - 4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
08 - 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
09 - 2 large room-temperature eggs

→ Filling

10 - 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
11 - 1 (13 oz.) jar of Nutella
12 - 6 ounces crumbled pistachio halva

→ Optional Sugar Glaze

13 - 2 tablespoons butter
14 - 1/2 cup water
15 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar

# Instructions:

01 - Whisk together 1.5 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in the bowl of your mixer. Add butter in small bits and mix until crumbly.
02 - Heat milk until it’s warm (about 110-115°F). Pour milk into the dry mixture along with vanilla and lemon zest. Mix until everything’s moistened.
03 - Mix in eggs, stir on a medium setting for 2 minutes. Add the rest of the flour a bit at a time until the dough feels firm. Knead by hand on a floured countertop for 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth.
04 - Grease a bowl and place the dough inside, making sure it’s lightly coated. Cover with a cloth and let it sit in a warm spot for an hour or until it doubles in size.
05 - Cut dough into 8 equal bits. Roll each into a rectangle (10x5 inches), spread Nutella, sprinkle on halva and chocolate chips. Roll up, slice lengthwise, twist, and form into knots.
06 - Let the buns rise again for about half an hour. Bake them in the oven at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until golden-brown. If you want, brush them with the sugar glaze while they’re still warm.

# Notes:

01 - Great for dessert, breakfast, or an afternoon snack
02 - Keep in an airtight container at room temp
03 - Warm up individual buns in the microwave—15 seconds works well
