Monte Cristo Sandwich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Sandwich

01 - 3 slices Swiss cheese
02 - 3 slices mild cheddar cheese
03 - 9 slices thick-cut honey ham
04 - 9 slices thick-cut roasted turkey
05 - 9 slices honey wheat bread

→ Batter

06 - ½ cup (62.5g) confectioners' sugar
07 - 2 large eggs, beaten
08 - 2⅔ cups water
09 - ½ teaspoon kosher salt
10 - 2 tablespoons baking powder
11 - 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
12 - Vegetable or canola oil, for deep frying

→ Dipping Sauce

13 - Honey mustard (optional)
14 - Red raspberry preserves

# Instructions:

01 - Stack bread, ham, and cheddar first. Add more bread, turkey, and Swiss last. Slice into triangles, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for a couple of hours.
02 - Blend the flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl. Mix the eggs and water in another dish, then slowly stir them into the dry mixture until smooth.
03 - Add about 2 inches of oil to a deep pot and bring the temperature to somewhere between 325°F and 350°F.
04 - Coat each sandwich triangle in batter. Fry until crisp and golden, about 4-5 minutes, then set on paper towels to drain.
05 - Sprinkle powdered sugar on top, then pair with preserves or honey mustard for dipping.

# Notes:

01 - Premade pancake mix works too.
02 - Chilling keeps the sandwich stable while frying.
