Loaded Meatloaf Comfort Dish (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Meatloaf Mix

01 - ¼ cup ketchup (save the rest for later)
02 - 1 lb ground beef
03 - ¼ cup milk
04 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
05 - 1 large egg
06 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
07 - ½ teaspoon black pepper
08 - 1 teaspoon salt
09 - ½ cup breadcrumbs
10 - ¼ cup diced onion

→ Topping Layer

11 - 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
12 - 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared earlier)
13 - 2 tablespoons chopped chives or green onions (optional)
14 - 4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly butter a square baking dish (9x9 inches).
02 - Throw the beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, half the ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl. Stir everything together until it’s evenly combined.
03 - Press the meat mixture into your baking dish. Spread the rest of the ketchup over the top. Pop it in the oven and let it bake for 20-25 minutes, or until it’s fully cooked.
04 - Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat once it’s done baking. Sprinkle the top with shredded cheese and crumbled bacon bits.
05 - Put it back in the oven for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese melts into gooey perfection.
06 - If you like, sprinkle chopped green onions or chives over the dish. Let it sit for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

# Notes:

01 - You can make this ahead of time if needed.
02 - Swap the beef with ground chicken or turkey if you’d prefer.
