Hearty Cheese Dip (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 small yellow onion, chopped
02 - 2 teaspoons kosher salt
03 - 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
04 - 1 tablespoon brown sugar
05 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - 2 pounds ground beef

→ Sauce Ingredients

07 - 3 tablespoons water
08 - 1 1/2 cups ketchup
09 - 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
10 - 1 cup beef broth
11 - 3 tablespoons cornstarch

→ Cheese & Serving

12 - 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar, split into two parts
13 - Serve with toasted bagel chips or baguette slices

# Instructions:

01 - Switch oven to broil and position the rack 6 inches below heat.
02 - In a skillet that's oven-friendly, cook beef, onion, sugar, and spices till meat's not pink anymore. Drain the extra fat if you want.
03 - Pour in broth, ketchup, and mustard. Add the cornstarch mixed with water, and cook till it thickens up.
04 - Take the skillet off the heat and stir in 1 cup of the shredded cheddar. Let it melt, then sprinkle the rest on top.
05 - Pop it under the broiler for 3-5 minutes until the top gets gooey and bubbly. Pair with your toasted chips or bread.
