Hamburger Steak Potato Bake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Patties

01 - 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
02 - Pinch of salt and pepper
03 - 1½ pounds ground beef
04 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

→ Gravy and Layers

05 - 1 medium onion, sliced thin
06 - 4-5 russet potatoes, cut into thin slices
07 - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
08 - 2 cups milk, split into two portions
09 - 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

# Instructions:

01 - Turn on the oven to 375°F and lightly coat a 9x13 dish with some oil or cooking spray.
02 - Combine the beef, onion powder, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Shape it all into 6 equal-sized patties.
03 - Using a skillet, brown each patty on both sides. Don't worry about cooking them fully. Put them aside once browned.
04 - In the same pan, stir together 1 cup of the milk and the flour until smooth. Slowly pour in the second cup of milk, stirring until it thickens into a gravy. Add salt and pepper to taste.
05 - Start with half the potatoes in the dish, followed by half the onions. Lay the browned patties over this, then top with the rest of the potatoes and onions.
06 - Pour the gravy over the layered dish. Cover it with foil and bake for an hour. Take off the foil, sprinkle with cheese, and bake for another 15 minutes.

# Notes:

01 - Make sure potatoes are very thin so they cook through.
02 - Adding mushrooms can make it tastier.
