Crispy Monte Cristo (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Sandwich

01 - 3 slices Swiss cheese
02 - 9 slices thick-cut roasted turkey
03 - 3 slices mild cheddar cheese
04 - 9 slices thick-cut honey ham
05 - 9 slices honey wheat bread

→ Batter

06 - ½ cup (62.5g) confectioners' sugar
07 - 2 tablespoons baking powder
08 - 2 large eggs, beaten
09 - 2⅔ cups water
10 - Vegetable or canola oil for frying
11 - ½ teaspoon kosher salt
12 - 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour

→ Dipping Sauce

13 - Honey mustard (optional)
14 - Red raspberry preserves

# Instructions:

01 - Take a slice of wheat bread, layer it with ham and cheddar, add a second slice of bread, then turkey with Swiss cheese, and cap it with another slice. Slice into triangles, wrap in plastic, and chill for a couple of hours.
02 - Stir your dry ingredients—flour, baking powder, and salt—in one bowl. In another, blend eggs and water, then slowly combine the two until silky.
03 - In a big pot, get 2 inches of oil hot—somewhere around 325°F to 350°F.
04 - Dip those sandwich pieces into the batter, make sure they’re coated well, and pop them into the oil. Let them sizzle for about 4 minutes till golden. Lay them on towels to drain.
05 - Give the sandwiches a quick dusting with powdered sugar and pair them with raspberry jam or honey mustard if you're feeling fancy.

# Notes:

01 - Pre-made pancake batter can work instead of making your own
02 - Cooling sandwiches before frying helps keep them intact
