Cranberry Sauce Vibrant Side (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup (250ml) water.
02 - 1 cup (200g) sugar.
03 - 4 cups (a 12-ounce pack) fresh or frozen cranberries.
04 - Optional: raisins, cinnamon, a bit of nutmeg or allspice, orange zest, blueberries, pecans, currants.

# Instructions:

01 - Grab the cranberries and toss any damaged ones while rinsing them in a strainer under cool water.
02 - Pour the sugar and water into a medium-sized pot. Stir while heating on high until the sugar melts and the water starts bubbling.
03 - Add the cranberries to the hot water and sugar combo. Let it boil again and then bring the heat down to a low simmer for around 10 minutes, or until most of the berries pop.
04 - If you like, mix in extras! Maybe half a cup of chopped pecans, a little orange zest, or some holiday spices like cinnamon or nutmeg.
05 - Take the pot off the stove and let the sauce cool to room temperature. When that's done, move it to a bowl and chill it in the fridge so it thickens as it cools more.

# Notes:

01 - Want a zesty flavor? Switch out 1/2 cup of water for orange juice.
02 - Don’t like it too sweet? Start with less sugar and add more as needed.
03 - This cranberry sauce is a must-have for French-style Thanksgiving!
