Use a rolling pin or a spoon to press the bread flat. Spread each slice with a thin layer of butter.

Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small dish. Sprinkle this over the buttered bread, then roll the slices into tight logs, pressing gently to hold the shape.

Combine milk, eggs, and vanilla in a shallow bowl and whisk until smooth.

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet. Dip each roll-up quickly into the egg mix (don’t soak them) then cook over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

While the rolls are warm, toss them in the remaining cinnamon sugar to fully coat. Enjoy right away with syrup, powdered sugar, or glaze on top!
