Christmas Butter Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar.
02 - 1 and 2/3 cups of soft pastry flour.
03 - A tiny pinch of table salt.
04 - 10 spoons of unsalted butter, brought to room temperature.
05 - 1 big-sized egg.
06 - Half a teaspoon of vanilla essence.
07 - 4 ounces of dark chocolate.
08 - 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream.
09 - Holiday-themed sprinkles.
10 - Optional cookie decorating icing.

# Instructions:

01 - Start by getting your oven going at 190°C, and lay some parchment paper on your baking trays.
02 - Whisk the butter, sugar, and a pinch of salt until it looks smooth and fluffy. This will take around 3 minutes.
03 - Mix in the egg and the vanilla extract until everything’s combined.
04 - Add your sifted flour gradually in three portions. Stir the mix gently each time.
05 - Scoop the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
06 - Pipe out rosettes or any shape you want, keeping them about 5cm wide.
07 - Pop them into the oven for about 10 minutes. Check that the edges turn golden.
08 - Let the baked cookies cool down fully before adding any decor.
09 - To prepare the ganache, heat the cream and mix it with chocolate in short bursts until melted.
10 - Dip the cookies into the ganache, sprinkle your decorations, and wait for them to set.
