Mix sugar and water in a pot, toss in berries, and bring to a gentle boil. Turn it down and simmer for 10 minutes. Let it cool off and strain.

Whip the powdered sugar with the heavy cream until it holds firm peaks. Blend in mascarpone until smooth.

Start with a layer in an 8x8 dish: dip ladyfingers in syrup, add mascarpone mix, then sprinkle sliced berries.

Do another set of layers with the rest of the ladyfingers and the mascarpone blend.

Cover up and let it sit in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or overnight. Add some fresh berries before serving.
